Tips Guide
Here are some tips on how to make your recycling program simple, smooth and successful.
- Determine a coordinator for your organization so we can develop a clear line of communication.
- Place your collection boxes in a secure location where they will be visible and easily accessible to students, members and staff.
- Announce the program to members, faculty and students and update them on the organization's or school's efforts to keep them motivated and focused on this important project. Support any collection effort, no matter how small.
- Recruit participants! Running a successful program takes the cooperation of a variety of different contacts. The more people you reach, the more donated items--and cash--you will recieve.
- Inform groups within your organization. Ex. PTA/PTOs, the sales team, youth groups, etc. They might be interested in kicking off a toner/laser, iPods, laptops, inkjet cartridge and cell phone collection drive as a fundraiser for the your program.
- Plan a collection drive. Use our Program Resources to help spread the word and for tips on how to run a successful drive.
- Reach out to local businesses and ask them to donate their used items to you instead of tossing them. The most successful organizations enlist businesses to partner with them in their recycling efforts. Businesses use a lot of these items and are usually happy to have a way to recycle them.
