Global Re-Source Funding's "Green Message"

GRF is a member of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Climate Protection Partnership

At Global Re-Source Funding, we strive to provide our customers with the assurance that when they recycle with our company, they are recycling with an environmentally compliant company. With your help, we can help protect the environment and keep America beautiful by diverting items from the landfills.

Our process:  Global Re-Source Funding sorts through all of the items that we receive and sends the items that can be remanufactured to our partnering companies for re-use.  All of our partners have passed our verification processes and are certified for the processes they perform. This includes wiping personal data from phones.  Laptop data is wiped internally as soon as they are inspected.

Items that are not on our list, or cannot be remanufactured, are ground into thier native materials and recycled through ISO certified scrap recyclers.  Read on for facts about why doing the environmentally correct thing makes such a huge difference for our futures:

Cell Phone Facts:

A typical consumer cycles through a new cell phone every 10-12 months due to increasing technology.

The EPA has targeted cell phone recycling because fewer than 20% of cell phones are recycled each year and most people do not know where to recycle them. (eCycle Cell Phones)

An estimated 100 million to 130 million cell phones are no longer being used, many languishing in storage. (Cell phone recycling an easy call)

The EPA estimates the U.S. cell phone recycling rate at only 10%, a figure that's been flat for the last couple of years. (Tossed aside what a waste.)

Ink and Toner Cartridges:

If all the empty cartridges that are thrown away each year were stacked end to end, they would circle the earth.

Approx. 1.2 trillion inkjet cartridges are used around the world every year and it takes approx. 3.5 liters of oil to produce every new toner/laser cartridge.

Yearly, over 500 million ink jet cartridges and 70 million laser cartridges will be sold in the United States. Every year over 400 million cartridges, with combined weight of 200 million lbs are discarded into our nation's landfills.

iPods

After 13 months of heavy use, the lithium-ion battery of the iPod can lose more than half of its functionality...these digital music players are designed to be disposable. (iWaste)

Apple has sold over 140 million iPods to date... (The iPod, a portable media player)
