Six Week Start-up Program
After receiving your start up packet, these helpful step-by-step instructions will set your school/organization on the path to a guaranteed successful program!
Week One:
Set a goal of what you will achieve. Recruit participants. Explain the program and contests to participants. Designate drop off locations. (Secure areas are the best) Make posters and banners to hang throughout your school, organization and community. Promote your program in newsletters and on web sites - do this monthly. Send letters, memos to: Faculty and Staff Participants Parents/Family PTA or PTOs Local or Donating Businesses Week Two:
Have participants write to area businesses asking them to recycle their used cartridges, iPods, laptops, digital cameras, GPS's and used cell phones in your organization's name. Tell them how & when you will collect their items and let them know that they can drop the items off at your organization or school location. Week Three:
Make a graph or a temperature thermometer to gage where you are and how close you are to reaching your goal. Week Four:
Let participants know that they are making a difference in their environment and program funding. Give them an update. Organize a support group to pick up cartridges, iPods, digital cameras, GPS units, laptops and cell phones from businesses. Week Five:
Remind participants that only one week remains before you send in your recyclables. Promote the program in your organization's newsletter and on its web site. Week Six:
